Partnering with Schools
New York’s Universal Free School Meal Program requires all participating schools to share information about SNAP with families. SNAP Navigators bring expertise and capacity that schools want and need as they implement SNAP outreach alongside many other competing priorities.
Visit our Partnering with Schools page for information, tools, and resources to build relationships with local school districts.
Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD)
Information and resources to help households navigate the ABAWD time limit rule.
Our ABAWD page
The ABAWD rule limits some adults to only receiving SNAP benefits for three months in a 36-month period if they are not working. Recently, New York started a new 36-month period, so some participants who lost benefits due to this rule may be eligible again. Learn more about the rule and how participants can keep or regain their benefits.
Our ABAWD Checklist
Determine if the time limit rule applies to a client, and learn ways to keep SNAP benefits.
Our SNAP Helps New Yorkers toolkit includes messaging about the NYS ABAWD time limit period reset.
