Budget Reconciliation Bill Includes Unprecedented Cuts to SNAP

By July 7, 2025No Comments

Late last week, Congress passed a budget reconciliation bill with unprecedented cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and other critical programs that help Americans meet their most basic needs. Hunger Solutions New York joined thousands of advocates urging lawmakers to reject these cuts, sharing local data and stories that made the harms of the bill abundantly clear.

Congress passed it regardless, with all of New York’s majority members voting in favor.

Hunger Solutions New York will work with our state agencies and partners to help New Yorkers understand and navigate program changes, with the goal of minimizing harm. But make no mistake—this bill will increase hunger and hardship in New York and across the country. It is shameful and unacceptable.

New York’s anti-hunger community stood united against this bill. Thank you for your advocacy and partnership. Together, we will move forward and continue to advocate for policies that support food security for all New Yorkers.
