Hunger Solutions New York is thrilled to announce that we have been named the 2024 No Kid Hungry Community Partner Honoree by Share Our Strength. Staff from Hunger Solutions New York were delighted to join Share Our Strength’s recent 40th anniversary dinner to celebrate No Kid Hungry’s impact in New York and around the nation and to accept the Community Partner award in recognition of our work.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. For nearly a decade, we have worked alongside talented and dedicated partners at No Kid Hungry New York to strengthen and expand access to federal nutrition programs that reduce hunger and nourish our state’s children.

Together, we successfully secured state legislation that expanded access to school breakfast in low-income schools, we helped children and families connect with summer meals during a global pandemic, and we reached more than 13,000 families with children through targeted SNAP outreach. Most recently, we successfully advocated for historic state investments in school meals, expanding access to free school breakfast and lunch to more than 347,000 children across the state. As a result of this accomplishment, school meal participation has increased by 12 percent across New York, with 18 million more lunches and 10 million more breakfasts reaching New York’s students. These collective efforts have created transformational change in schools and communities throughout the state, connecting children with vital anti-hunger programs.

Despite our successes, the fight against childhood hunger continues. With nearly 1 in 5 children in New York facing hunger, our mission remains critical. We are working closely with No Kid Hungry New York and other partners to ensure child nutrition programs reach as many kids as possible. We are committed to our work with schools and community organizations to maximize proven programs like SNAP and school meals. Finally, we remain steadfast in our advocacy for state and federal investments in our national anti-hunger programs.

We are honored and incredibly humbled by this recognition and look forward to continued partnership with No Kid Hungry to ensure every child in New York is well nourished at school and at home.
