The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) provides federal funding to help child care and afterschool program providers serve healthy meals and snacks to kids in care. Thousands of providers use CACFP in New York – but many more could join. We are seeking CACFP Ambassadors to provide peer-to-peer outreach and support to help more day care homes, child care centers, afterschool programs, and school districts connect with CACFP. CACFP Ambassadors will receive a $2,000 stipend in exchange for their time and expertise.

Eligibility

CACFP Ambassadors must be current CACFP participants in good standing. We are seeking ambassadors who represent different types of child and afterschool care, including:

  • Day care home providers
  • Child care centers
  • Afterschool program operators
  • School food authorities

Activities

Ambassadors can expect to spend 2-3 hours per month on activities to promote awareness of CACFP and provide peer-to-peer support for interested providers. Ambassadors will serve for one year, with possibility of renewal. Activities may include:

  • Sharing your experience with CACFP on webinars or in workshops
  • Providing peer-to-peer mentorship
  • Elevating best practices and go-to recipes
  • Providing feedback on new CACFP resources
  • Helping create and promote a statewide survey of child care and afterschool program providers
  • Attending monthly check-in meetings with Hunger Solutions New York and fellow Ambassadors

Apply by December 15, 2023

Hunger Solutions New York will review applications and notify selected applicants on a rolling basis. Application review will include contacting NYS CACFP to determine if the applicant is in good standing. We may contact applicants for short, informal phone interviews to gather additional information.
