Hunger Solutions New York’s team just got bigger. We are excited to announce the addition of a few new team members and a recent promotion that will help further our mission to alleviate hunger in New York.

In this new role, Jessica will guide the strategy for and oversee the team of child nutrition program specialists focused on in-school and outside-of-school programs – including school meals, summer meals, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Jessica has been an integral part of Hunger Solutions New York for over a decade and has established herself as a program and policy expert in the school meal programs.

She looks forward to having more time to focus on Hunger Solutions New York’s advocacy work alongside the Public Affairs team and Hunger Solutions New York’s many partners on state and federal advocacy. Jessica will continue to co-lead the Healthy School Meals for All NY Kids Campaign, while also supporting policy campaigns to strengthen all federal nutrition programs – including SNAP, WIC, and child nutrition programs – at the federal and state levels. Jessica lives in Northern Saratoga County with her husband, two daughters, and cat. Beyond work, Jessica enjoys spending time with family and gardening. Congratulations on the promotion, Jessica!

Photo of Chelsey WolcottIn September, we welcomed Chelsey Wolcott (she/her), Hunger Solutions New York’s new Accounts Payable Associate. Chelsey was born and raised in Albany, New York and attended Long Island University, where she studied Business Accounting. Following that, she joined the United States Army, where she earned her certification in Accounting.

After serving in the military, she went on to work in finance and stumbled upon non-profits, where she found that she really enjoyed the business and the work they all do. During her free time she enjoys anything that allows her time to be with her family. She has two beautiful children, Kree who is five and Nalaa who is two. She loves to do anything involving adventure or being creative, from climbing Stone Mountain to writing short stories. We are so excited for you to join us, Chelsey!

Photo of Itzel Mialma RomeoIn September, Itzel Mialma Romeo (she/her) joined Hunger Solutions New York as the newest Outreach Specialist. She will cultivate and maintain partnerships with various groups, including community-based organizations, healthcare providers, and governmental agencies that serve the WIC-eligible populations. She is excited to work collaboratively with these organizations while continuing to increase outreach efforts that alleviate hunger.

Itzel’s passion for advocacy, specifically increasing awareness around the negative impacts of malnutrition and hunger, stems from years of personal experience. Additionally, throughout the past few years, she has gained valuable knowledge about the root causes that contribute to the many levels of inequality and injustice that leave mothers, children, and other individuals in poor living conditions. Outside work, she enjoys running, hiking, or reading books in her currently obsessed genre (Greek Mythology at the moment). Welcome, Itzel!
