WIC Help NY Program

WIC Help NY

Hunger Solutions New York manages WIC Help NY in twenty counties in New York State. The program offers free, confidential, one-on-one services that help hungry New Yorkers get nutrition assistance.

Hunger Solutions New York contracts with community- based organizations to implement outreach at the local level. Each community-based organization employs a WIC Help Specialist who provides one-on-one services to connect eligible pregnant and postpartum women and children under age five to the WIC program. WIC Help Specialists also work to help fathers, grandparents other caregivers apply for WIC on behalf of children in their care. WIC Help Specialists can help determine if someone may be eligible for WIC, explain how WIC works and can set appointments at local WIC clinics. This service is free and confidential.

The New York State WIC program provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, nutrition education, and breastfeeding promotion and support to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.
