The National School Lunch Program makes it possible for all U.S. school children to receive a nutritious lunch every school day, in an affordable, convenient way. Research shows children are more attentive in class, have better attendance and fewer disciplinary problems when their nutritional needs are met.

Hunger Solutions New York works to increase access to school lunch, especially for children from low income households. Our organization:

  • Works at the federal, state, and local levels to improve the enrollment process and make it easier for schools to offer healthy meals
  • Assists schools one-on-one to offer both breakfast and lunch at no charge through the Community Eligibility Provision
  • Works to improve the direct certification process at the state and local level
