Last summer, thanks to the dedicated efforts of 361 sponsoring organizations, over 3,100 community sites were approved to serve healthy meals and snacks to kids and teens in locations across New York State, including parks, pools, playgrounds, recreation centers, schools, camps, libraries, housing authorities, faith communities, and more. However, less than 1 in 3 students who relied on school meals to power their learning had access to healthy meals through the Summer Food Service Program. The NYS Education Department is hosting regional training’s in late March and April to gear up for reaching more youth in summer 2018. Click on the links below to learn more, find out if communities near you may be eligible for summer meals, connect with a sponsoring organization, register for a training, and more. NYSED welcomes registrations up to the day before a training, space permitting.
Please share with your networks so we can make summer hunger-free for all of our kids!
