School Breakfast Thunderclap Promotion Launched

To promote the upcoming release of our school breakfast report, we’ve launched an awareness initiative using Thunderclap, a website that enables people to post a pre-determined message to Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr all on the same day and at the exact same time, to achieve maximum effect. It’s like an online flash mob to promote the School Breakfast Program and the findings in our new report. Our message will hit social media March 8, the report release date.

SNAP Interactives: Watch SNAP Respond To The Economy As Designed

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) responds to changes in the economy, growing to help those in need during recessions and then shrinking when the economy improves. For the 1.6 million NYS students who may rely on healthy school meals, time off from school can mean coping with food hardship. Fortunately, some sponsors of afterschool and summer meals have the option to serve meals on weekends and during school breaks. With winter and spring breaks approaching, we urge sponsors to explore the opportunity to serve meals during those times.
