On Thursday, October 5, the US House is scheduled to have a floor vote on the FY 2018 House Budget Resolution, which contains deep cuts to SNAP, the Community Eligibility Provision, and other vital human needs programs critical to ending hunger and poverty. The Resolution would set up a process for tax cuts tilted to the wealthy at the expense of programs that serve low and moderate income people. Read Hunger Solutions New York’s analysis on the FY 2018 House Budget Resolution, and additional details on the proposed cuts to school meals.
Now is the time to take action! Participate in a national call-in day asking your member to oppose these cuts to federal nutrition programs and vote NO on the House Budget; take to social media with your message; and make your voice heard at upcoming Farm Bill hearings. All this and more in our latest alert.
Please note: the alert also announces the date for a series of state-sponsored listening sessions on the Farm Bill. The date for the Morrisville session has been changed to Monday October 23. The state’s release can be found here.
