The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can offset the cost of food to help New Yorkers afford the cost of fuel to heat their homes, and the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) assists low-income households with energy costs.

Summer food sites, part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), opened across Jefferson County using the expanded Fort Drum program as a model. The SFSP provides low-income children with summer meals when school is out of session.
