Spring trainings to help alleviate summer childhood hunger

February 07, 2017

Last summer, thanks to the dedicated efforts of 348 sponsoring organizations, over 3,000 community sites served up healthy meals and snacks to kids and teens in locations across New York State, including parks, pools, playgrounds, recreation centers, schools, camps, libraries, housing authorities, faith communities, and more. However, less than 1 in 3 students who relied on school meals to power their learning had access to healthy meals through the Summer Food Service Program. The NYS Education Department is hosting regional trainings in late March and April to gear up for reaching more youth in summer 2017. Click on the links below to learn more, find out if communities near you may be eligible for summer meals, connect with a sponsoring organization, register for a training, and more. Please share with your networks so we can make summer hunger-free for all of our kids!
