New Webinar for Enrichment Programs Thinking About Serving Afterschool Meals

Hunger Solutions New York Hunger Solutions New York and its partners, the NYS Network for Youth Success and the NYS Department of Health, have produced a webinar designed to encourage afterschool enrichment programs to serve meals and snacks through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

CACFP's afterschool meals/snacks option provides per-meal reimbursement funding for nutritious meals and snacks to qualifying enrichment programs located in the enrollment area of schools with a majority of low-income students. Meals and snacks may be served after the regular school day ends, on weekends, and over school-year holidays.

At the links below, view the recently recorded webinar and associated PowerPoint slides, which include referenced sources. These resources offer information about CACFP eligibility and enrollment, meal pattern requirements, best practices, and other child nutrition programs such as summer meals and SNAP, which work alongside CACFP to combat hunger and food insecurity in New York State.

To explore if your program may be eligble, use this new prescreening tool created by NYSDOH. To get started with your enrollment, contact cacfp@health.ny.gov using the subject line “Outreach Coordinator”, or call (518) 402-7400.
